Job summary

Catholic Charities Family and Community Services (CCFCS) is hiring a DSP II to support individuals with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, safety, and independent living skills, with hands-on assistance and collaboration across staff.

Qualifications include NY driver’s license and AMAP certification for DSP II; preferred one year of related experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
• Credentials: NY State Driver’s License and driving record acceptable by agency and insurer.
• Experience: At least 1 year working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide person centered support to individuals served, recognizing learning styles and abilities.
• Offer direct personal assistance in hands-on support as needed.
• Assist with health, wellness needs and accompanying medical appointments.
• Assist with meal planning, food shopping and menu preparation.
• Communicate effectively with individuals and document incidents and logs.
• Support individuals in maintaining independence within a trauma-informed environment.
• Manage funds and safeguard individuals' money; assist with spending choices.
• Ensure a clean, safe living environment and proper safety procedures.
• Maintain shift-to-shift communication and attend staff meetings.
• Promote well-being and rights; provide transportation and vehicle upkeep as needed.
• Support daily operations per regulations and agency policies; complete required trainings.
• Demonstrate confidentiality, teamwork, and cultural competence; participate in agency meetings.
