Job summary

Tufts Medical Center, Inc. offers a per diem nursing student program to gain hands-on clinical experience while continuing education.

Participants work with experienced nurses, gain exposure to inpatient settings, and may receive mentorship and development opportunities. The role focuses on nursing support duties under supervision, with potential pathways to Nurse Residency interviews and practicum placements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; BLS required.
• CNA or MA certification preferred.
• Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in accredited program.
• One year of related experience as NA/PCA/CCT/PCT preferred.
• Acute care experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional RN in patient care, ensuring safe, patient-centered delivery.
• Assist with activities of daily living and procedures per nurse guidance.
• Greet patients and families, respond to requests with nurse supervision as needed.
• Document patient data and communicate findings to nurse promptly.
• Prepare rooms and assist with admissions/transfers/discharges as required.
• Transport patients safely and provide sitter services when needed.
• Provide comfort measures and assist with mobility and ROM exercises.
• Set up procedures with nursing/medical staff and maintain clean equipment.
• Handle specimens and prepare for lab testing while following precautions.
• Maintain biomedical equipment and report malfunctions per protocol.
• Assist with wound care and IV setup as directed by nurse.
