Job summary

Lilly is seeking a Mixed Modality (Peptide Upstream) Scientist to advance peptide upstream manufacturing processes from development to pilot plant operations, enabling early-phase cGMP production of grams to kilograms for clinical trials.

You will collaborate across teams to transfer processes, document tech transfers, and ensure plant readiness, with opportunities to contribute to process improvement and scale-up initiatives at the Lilly Medicine Foundry in Indiana.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in peptide chemistry and/or manufacturing environments involving synthetic peptide API or drug substance.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

• Perform synthetic peptide chemistry and assess routes from development labs.
• Familiarity with SPPS and Cleavage & Precipitation.
• Evaluate safety of procedures with safety group and process engineering.
• Obtain reference materials and set up analytical methods.
• Document technical transfers and prepare batch records.
• Support process deviations, quality events, and CAPAs.
