Job summary

Lilly is seeking passionate chemists to join the PTE team at the Lilly Medicine Foundry in Indiana. You will help translate API/DS processes, transfer tech, and ensure right‑first‑time clinical manufacturing across modalities from early research to startup.

The role emphasizes peptide purification, downstream chemistry, and collaboration across engineering, QA, and safety groups to enable startup readiness and continuous improvement. This is a unique opportunity in a growing, mission‑driven site.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in synthesis peptide purification and/or manufacturing environments involving synthetic peptide API or drug substance.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. Lilly will not sponsor work authorization or visas.

Responsibilities

• Perform peptide purification and isolation and assess purification methods.
• Familiarity with reverse‑phase chromatography, TFF, lyophilization, and precipitation & drying procedures.
• Evaluate safety of procedures with safety group and process engineering.
• Order and stage chemicals.
• Obtain reference materials and set up analytical methods.
• Reprocess and analyze analytical data to inform decisions.
• Document lab work clearly to enable tech transfers and replication.
• Ensure plant readiness of process steps and conduct Definitive Lab Trials.
• Maintain organized lab notebooks and detailed technical documentation.
• Author and review tech transfer plans, SOPs, batch records, and deviation reports.
• Apply process improvement and introduce new technologies or procedures.
• Support deviations, CAPAs, and root-cause analyses across teams.
