AbbVie Process Chemistry is seeking a Peptide Chemist, Principal Research Scientist I/II to conduct process research and development of small molecules, including Peptides, and/or antibody-drug conjugates from pre-clinical through early clinical phases.

Key Responsibilities:

• The candidate will participate and/or lead project teams associated with process development and characterization for peptides and other modalities.
• Develop and characterize peptide (or other modalities) processes in the laboratory and translate them to scalable processes.
• Proactively advise and share knowledge and expert opinions with subordinates, peers, and senior management. Mentor staff in troubleshooting strategic and experimental issues.
• Author and review key regulatory documents, laboratory data, technical memos, and reports.

Additional responsibilities include multi-disciplinary interactions, continuous improvement initiatives, project strategy setting, and team leadership, potentially including management of direct reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree in Organic Chemistry with typically 14+ (BS), 12+ (MS), or 6+ (PhD) years of experience. Candidates with less experience may be considered for other opportunities.
• Experience in peptide process development.
• Proven scientific leadership and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong understanding of modern organic chemistry, mechanistic theory, control strategy development, and regulatory strategies.
• Understanding of global regulatory expectations and experience with development reports and filings is highly desirable.
