Job Description

The Analytical Research & Development team is seeking a talented, highly motivated candidate with experience in the characterization of peptide and oligonucleotide biomolecules. This is a laboratory-based role, responsible for designing, developing, and implementing analytical methods for the characterization of peptides and oligonucleotides, with an emphasis on mass spectrometry-based methods. The candidate should possess an understanding of their core discipline and use that expertise to support early phase development of drug substance and drug product, collaborating with cross-functional partners such as Pre-Clinical Safety, Process Chemistry, Process Engineering, Drug Product Development, Quality Assurance, and CMC-Regulatory.

Responsibilities
  1. Utilize cutting-edge mass spectrometry techniques, including high-resolution MS, MS/MS, ion mobility-MS, and 2DLC-MS, to characterize small molecule, peptide, and oligonucleotide drug products, active pharmaceutical ingredients, intermediates, starting materials, and impurities.
  2. Identify, develop, and implement novel analytical methods for the characterization of peptide and oligonucleotide pharmaceuticals, focusing on LC-MS and biophysical characterization to support discovery and development pipelines.
  3. Lead structure elucidation efforts and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance programs through development stages.
  4. Support new product development with method development, validation, technical transfer, and regulatory data generation.
  5. Perform laboratory research or method development autonomously with minimal supervision.
  6. Formulate conclusions and design follow-up experiments based on multidisciplinary data.
  7. Initiate new investigations that are scientifically meaningful and applicable to R&D programs.
  8. Communicate and collaborate effectively across departments.
  9. Demonstrate scientific initiative and maintain high productivity in the lab.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelors, Masters, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field, with 10+ (BS), 8+ (MS), or 0-2 (Ph.D.) years of industry experience.
  2. Extensive experience in mass spectrometry experiments for peptides, proteins, or oligonucleotides, with strong instrument knowledge.
  3. Strong analytical chemistry background, problem-solving skills, and ability to develop and troubleshoot methods independently.
  4. Knowledge of organic structure, chemistry, biochemistry, and spectroscopic techniques.
  5. Peptide synthesis experience is a plus.
  6. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Experience with data handling systems.
  8. Excellent communication skills for interacting with interdisciplinary teams.
