Job description

Scot Eckley Inc. is a high-end landscape design‑build firm in Seattle creating refined outdoor living spaces for great clients. We would love to talk with you if you are ready to lead construction operations, run detailed residential landscape projects, and develop strong build teams. This role blends project management, operations leadership, and people development, with real ownership and the opportunity to help shape how our construction department operates.

The Role

We are currently seeking a Landscape Project Manager-Construction Operations. This position has three core responsibilities:

Construction Operations

You lead operations for our construction division. You coordinate the overall construction schedule across three crews. You work with our other Project Manager and Estimator to ensure seamless handoffs between design, estimating, and build. You’re accountable for hitting monthly construction revenue targets and maintaining operational consistency across all projects.

You’ll also join SEI’s Operations and Financial Forecasting Team working alongside other managers and key team members to share insights, coordinate resources, and help the whole company move forward together.

Project Management

You serve as the dedicated Project Manager for one construction crew, owning scope, budget, schedule, quality, and client communication for assigned projects. You maintain a current 10‑day rolling schedule. You coordinate design, estimating, subcontractors, vendors, permits, and materials to keep production efficient. You solve problems before they become delays or cost overruns.

Team Development & Leadership

You own the people side of construction. You’re responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, and crew development. You conduct performance check‑ins with Build Team Leaders. You manage safety training and follow‑up. You’re growing a stronger team, developing crew skills at every level and coaching the people who are ready for leadership.

What We’re Looking For

Strong landscape construction experience. You can read plans, anticipate sequencing issues, and deliver high‑end residential projects. Clear communicator with clients, build team leaders, subcontractors, and internal teams. Genuinely interested in developing people and building team capability, not just checking boxes.

Most importantly: Judgment. You make sound decisions under pressure. You know what matters. You protect margin through smart planning and sequencing. You follow through consistently.

Your Superpower

You see around corners. You anticipate problems before they happen. You recognize when someone’s ready for more responsibility. You know what’s coming next week and next month. You don’t just react. You plan ahead and keep everyone moving in the right direction.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $90,000–$100,000 (depending on experience)
  • Bonuses: Quarterly incentive opportunities
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision (80% employer‑paid)
  • Retirement: 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Time Off: 80 hours PTO first year; 120 hours after year one; 7 paid holidays
  • Flexible schedule between office, job sites, and home based on daily needs
  • Growth: Paid memberships, $2,000 per year for continuing education, and annual garden tours and events
  • Tools: Company laptop; cell phone and company truck
Requirements
  • 5+ years of landscape construction experience, with demonstrated experience managing projects and leading field teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high‑end residential landscape projects simultaneously, with ownership of scope, budget, schedule, and client communication.
  • Experience coordinating operations across multiple crews, including production scheduling, resource allocation, and sequencing.
  • Strong financial fluency. You understand job costing, margin protection, labor efficiency, and how daily decisions impact company performance.
  • Demonstrated experience hiring, developing, and coaching Build Team Leaders, foremen, or crew members into leadership roles.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, manage detailed budgets, and anticipate sequencing challenges before they become problems.
  • Comfortable using project management and job‑costing software to track schedules, budgets, and production.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, Horticulture, or related field preferred but not required.
