Job summary

Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries (OVGI) seeks an Employee Relations Specialist to maintain positive employer–employee relationships and handle grievances. The role focuses on policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and supporting engagement efforts. You will work onsite in Cincinnati with travel to store locations as needed.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in HR or related field, 2+ years in HR/employee relations, and knowledge of labor regulations. SHRM-CP/PHR certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in HR, business administration, labor relations, or related field or equivalent in experience.
• 2+ years HR or employee relations experience.
• Knowledge of employment laws and labor regulations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Strong critical thinking and investigative skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Preferred certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the front door of Human Resources for employees and managers, coordinating investigations and resolving disputes.
• Investigate harassment, discrimination, and policy violations.
• Mediate disputes between employees and managers or other staff.
• Advise supervisors on performance, discipline, and termination decisions.
• Ensure compliance with OVGI policies and employment regulations.
• Complete and file investigations and documentation in a timely manner.
• Assist in developing and implementing OVGI policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidential case records and outcomes.
• Support employee engagement initiatives and survey programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
