Job summary

Mark-Taylor, based in Scottsdale, AZ, seeks a People Relations Specialist for our corporate office. You will partner with leaders across communities handling employee relations, investigations, and policy guidance to sustain a fair, compliant workplace.

You’ll coach managers, document performance actions, review corrective actions, and maintain confidential case records while supporting retention initiatives and HR projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3–5 years HR experience, incl. 2+ years in employee relations and investigations
  • Knowledge of Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA and HR best practices
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills with objectivity
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; professional documentation
  • Ability to build trust with employees and leaders at all levels
  • Integrity and sound judgment with confidential information
  • Manage multiple cases and priorities in fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Paylocity HRIS a plus
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Willingness to travel to communities across the Valley up to 80%

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and leaders on employee relations, performance matters, disciplinary actions and policy interpretation
  • Conduct prompt, thorough and impartial workplace investigations with witnesses, evidence and findings
  • Coach and guide leaders through performance and conduct matters including documentation and progressive discipline
  • Advise employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws
  • Review and prepare corrective action documentation and separation recommendations for accuracy and compliance
  • Maintain accurate, confidential case records and provide reporting to HR leadership
  • Identify recurring concerns and recommend proactive solutions, including policy updates and training
  • Serve as a two-way communication channel between community teams and corporate HR
  • Support retention and engagement efforts and address workplace concerns early
  • Support HR projects and additional duties as assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three to five years of Human Resources experience, including at least two years focused on employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA and FLSA, as well as Human Resources best practices.
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain objective and reach well-supported conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, professional documentation.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • High integrity and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel; experience with an HRIS, preferably Paylocity, is a plus.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to communities across the Valley up to 80% of the time, with the remaining time spent at Mark-Taylor’s corporate office in Scottsdale.
In this role, you will
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and leaders regarding employee relations concerns, performance matters, disciplinary actions and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct prompt, thorough and impartial workplace investigations, including interviewing witnesses, gathering and evaluating evidence, documenting findings, and presenting recommendations to Human Resources leadership.
  • Coach and guide leaders through performance and conduct matters, including documentation, performance improvement plans and progressive discipline.
  • Advise employees and leaders on Human Resources policies, procedures and employment laws to promote consistent application and reduce organizational risk.
  • Review and prepare corrective action documentation and separation recommendations for accuracy, consistency and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records, track employee relations trends, and provide regular reporting and insights to Human Resources leadership.
  • Identify recurring concerns and recommend proactive solutions, including policy updates, leader training and communication improvements.
  • Serve as an effective two-way communication resource between community teams and corporate Human Resources.
  • Support retention and engagement efforts by helping address workplace concerns early and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Support Human Resources projects and initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
