Job summary

Mark-Taylor is hiring a People Relations Specialist at our Scottsdale corporate office. You will lead employee relations, conduct investigations, and advise leaders on HR policies to minimize risk.

We value integrity, discretion, and clear communication. Requires a BS in HR or related field and 3–5 years’ experience, including investigations; Travel to communities up to 80% is expected, with time at headquarters in Scottsdale.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of HR experience, with at least two years in employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Knowledge of Title VII, ADA, FMLA and FLSA and HR best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as point of contact for employee relations concerns, performance matters and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct prompt, thorough and impartial workplace investigations with evidence gathering and documentation.
  • Coach leaders on performance and conduct matters, including progressive discipline.
  • Advise on HR policies and employment laws to reduce risk and ensure consistent application.
  • Maintain confidential case records and provide reporting to HR leadership.
  • Collaborate with community teams and corporate HR on initiatives and training.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three to five years of Human Resources experience, including at least two years focused on employee relations and workplace investigations.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws, including Title VII, ADA, FMLA and FLSA, as well as Human Resources best practices.
  • Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain objective and reach well-supported conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, professional documentation.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • High integrity and sound judgment when handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel; experience with an HRIS, preferably Paylocity, is a plus.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to communities across the Valley up to 80% of the time, with the remaining time spent at Mark-Taylor’s corporate office in Scottsdale.
In this role, you will
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and leaders regarding employee relations concerns, performance matters, disciplinary actions and policy interpretation.
  • Conduct prompt, thorough and impartial workplace investigations, including interviewing witnesses, gathering and evaluating evidence, documenting findings, and presenting recommendations to Human Resources leadership.
  • Coach and guide leaders through performance and conduct matters, including documentation, performance improvement plans and progressive discipline.
  • Advise employees and leaders on Human Resources policies, procedures and employment laws to promote consistent application and reduce organizational risk.
  • Review and prepare corrective action documentation and separation recommendations for accuracy, consistency and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case records, track employee relations trends, and provide regular reporting and insights to Human Resources leadership.
  • Identify recurring concerns and recommend proactive solutions, including policy updates, leader training and communication improvements.
  • Serve as an effective two-way communication resource between community teams and corporate Human Resources.
  • Support retention and engagement efforts by helping address workplace concerns early and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Support Human Resources projects and initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
