Job summary

Gusto is seeking a high-ownership People Business Partner to support Engineering, Data Science, and Security/IT. You will partner with senior leaders, drive core People programs, and connect R&D with the broader People team.

Expect hands-on execution, trust-building, and action-oriented work in a fast-paced environment. You will analyze gPulse data, run end-to-end reorganizations, and build scalable processes to improve performance and employee experience.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of HRBP or People Partner experience with technical orgs (Engineering/Data Science/Security).
• Strong operator mindset; executed complex People work and reorgs.
• Bias toward action and high-speed execution.
• Ability to influence senior technical leaders and push back when needed.
• Deep experience with performance management, calibrations, promotions, and org design.
• Strong analytical instincts; tell a story with People data.
• Comfort with ambiguity; maintain thread and detail.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted partnerships with Engineering, Data Science, and Security/IT leaders.
• Synthesize People data into clear, actionable reads for R&D leaders.
• Operationalize core talent programs including performance cycles and promotions.
• Reinforce high performance standards and growth expectations across teams.
• Liaise between R&D and Gusto's broader People team; translate programs for technical orgs.
• Identify risks and opportunities using People insights and data.
• Create scalable People frameworks, processes, and operating mechanisms.
• Execute end-to-end org changes with transition planning and communication.
