Job summary

Redwood Research is seeking a proactive People Operations Lead to design and run onboarding, offboarding, HRIS management, payroll, and benefits for a growing research-focused nonprofit. You will shape People Ops policy, ensure compliance, and partner with leadership to enable researchers to focus on their work.

This role is on-site in Berkeley, with opportunities to improve processes, own immigration case management, and build scalable operations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in People Operations or HR.
• Experience handling high-stakes compliance matters.
• Experience managing immigration cases.
• Meticulous attention to detail, especially with paperwork.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Own onboarding and offboarding processes and improvements.
• Manage our HRIS (Rippling) including integrations and data integrity.
• Lead payroll and benefits administration; serve as main staff contact for questions.
• Own HR compliance and risk mitigation; improve systems over time.
• Write and maintain People Ops policies and resources.
• Support performance evaluation processes.
