Job summary

Oakland Museum of California is seeking a Human Resources and Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing, benefits administration, onboarding, and HR compliance. This role ensures accurate wage calculations, deductions, and recordkeeping while partnering with Accounting and HR leadership.

The position emphasizes federal and state regulatory compliance, data integrity in the HRIS, and a collaborative culture. Prior experience with ADP, HRIS, and benefits programs is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in HR, Benefits and Payroll administration.
• A.A. or B.A. degree in related field and/or PHR Certification preferred.
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now and HRIS software is preferred.
• Knowledge of federal/state employment and benefit laws.
• English language proficiency in both spoken and written form.

Responsibilities

• Oversee timecard collection and payroll processing, including deductions and garnishments.
• Administer benefits enrollment, COBRA, and pre-tax reimbursement programs.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws and maintain HR records.
• Coordinate new hire onboarding, onboarding/offboarding, and leave of absence processes.
• Provide employee support on HR policies and respond to inquiries.
