Job summary

Roskam Foods in Grand Rapids, MI seeks an HR professional to lead employee relations and compliance across manufacturing operations. This role develops and implements HR programs, ensures fair treatment, and partners with leaders to reach business goals.

This position involves hands-on support in production areas, handling sensitive information, and advancing safety and training initiatives. A bachelor’s degree and HR experience are required; union experience and SHRM/PHR certification are

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field experience required.
  • At least one year of human resources and employee relations experience is preferred.
  • Experience in a union environment is strongly preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing HR experience preferred.
  • Experience handling highly confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees and be perceived as an approachable and knowledgeable resource.
  • Bi-lingual preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Discovers continuous improvement opportunities and takes the initiative to drive incremental changes in HR processes and systems.
  • Acts as a change agent.
  • Ensures employees at all levels are treated fairly in compliance with company, state and federal policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Partners with leaders and HR management regarding compliance with all applicable state and federal employment regulations, Human Resources policies, and best practices.
  • Supports leaders to achieve business unit and department goals.
  • Partners with other members of the HR Team and Centers of Excellence teams as needed.
  • Project team member and implementor for HR initiatives.
  • Spends significant time in the production areas offering hands-on support.
  • Partners with plant safety team to enforce safe policy and procedures.
  • Executes human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring to complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
