Job summary

ShipBob, Inc. in North Aurora, IL is seeking an Area Manager to lead a 30+ person warehouse team and drive operational excellence across shifts. You’ll coach leads, manage performance, and partner with peers to meet safety, quality, and throughput targets.

You’ll own labor planning, performance metrics (VCPO, UPH, OPH, on-time receiving/shipping), and staff development while fostering a culture of accountability and employee engagement. Rotating shifts and physical demands apply.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of people management and operational leadership in a high-volume 3PL fulfillment environment.
• Experience in ecommerce, retail, and manufacturing industries preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to track KPIs.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerBI, and TMS systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Able to work rotating shifts and lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Manage, build, and develop a team of 30+ warehouse associates (Temp and FTE).
• Review weekly work forecasts and identify productivity requirements to meet overall building objectives.
• Partner with other Area Managers to balance labor ensuring we are operating an efficient shift while meeting all goals.
• Own operational metric reporting, including VCPO, UPH, OPH, on-time receiving and shipping, merchant SLA’s and Injury Rate.
• Responsible for ensuring teams are properly trained on processes and procedures, understand metrics and performance goals, and that their needs are addressed so they can best perform in their roles.
• Develop Lead talent ensuring Lead associates are provided necessary tools, training, and resources to meet standards.
• Actively foster employee engagement onsite by participating in activities, events, and programs that contribute to workplace culture, a positive work environment and employee wellbeing.
• Review and approve associate timecards daily.
• Serve as the contact for escalated issues, with the ability to mitigate risk and resolve quickly and effectively.
• Support all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all associates.
• Supervises daily workflows to ensure products are handled and stored correctly in accordance with defined safety and quality procedures.
