Job summary

City of Leawood is seeking a collaborative Human Resources & Employee Experience Advisor to join the Leawood City Hall HR team. The role focuses on delivering responsive services, guiding supervisors, and improving the overall employee experience across benefits, payroll, and development programs.

This position emphasizes partnership with departments, project leadership, and continuous improvement to support a positive, compliant workplace and culture aligned with city values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible HR experience covering multiple functional areas.
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to supervisors and leadership on employee relations, performance, policy interpretation, and people-management practices.
• Lead strategic HR projects from concept to implementation, including planning and evaluation.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning activities with departments.
• Coordinate onboarding, orientation, transitions, and offboarding to improve the employee experience.
• Administer benefits programs, wellness initiatives, and related education.
• Process payroll activities and coordinate with Finance to resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain HR data systems, respond to inquiries, and assist with reporting and audits.
• Support performance management, employee development, and engagement programs.
• Contribute to workforce reports, surveys, and HR metrics.
• Identify workforce needs and opportunities to strengthen organizational capacity.
