Job summary

The City of Leawood is seeking a collaborative Human Resources & Employee Experience Advisor to join our Human Resources team. This full-time role supports employees and supervisors through the lifecycle, delivering responsive service and programs that strengthen the overall employee experience.

The advisor will guide supervisors on employee relations, lead HR projects, coordinate recruitment and onboarding, manage payroll and benefits, and help drive continuous improvement across HR programs

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 years of HR experience across multiple functional areas (employee relations, recruitment, performance management, compensation, payroll, benefits, or workforce planning).
• Strong written, verbal, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to supervisors and leaders on employee relations, performance, documentation, policy interpretation, and people-management practices.
• Lead HR projects from concept through implementation, including planning, communication, and evaluation.
• Coordinate recruitment, postings, screening, interviews, onboarding, and candidate communication.
• Oversee onboarding, orientation, transitions, and offboarding to improve the employee experience.
• Administer benefits, wellness initiatives, and related education.
• Process payroll activities and ensure accuracy in coordination with Finance.
• Maintain HR system data and support reporting, audits, and process improvements.
• Assist with performance management and employee development programs.
• Support employee engagement, recognition, and culture initiatives.
• Develop workforce reports and HR metrics related to recruitment, retention, and compensation.
• Identify workforce needs and opportunities to strengthen organizational capacity.
• Support process improvements and use of data to inform decisions.
• Participate in committees and projects related to HR and employee experience.
