Job summary

City of Lansing in Michigan seeks an experienced Retirement Administrator to oversee the city’s pension plans under the Retirement Boards and the Finance Director. You will manage the retirement office, support active and retired employees, and respond to inquiries.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and at least one year of financial analysis or accounting experience, plus experience with pension administration software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• At least 1 year of financial analysis or accounting experience.
• Experience with pension administration software.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience considered.
• Valid driver's license or ID required.

Responsibilities

• Administers City pension plans under Retirement Boards and Finance Director.
• Keeps records for active and retired members; prepares agenda, minutes, reports.
• Handles employee contact regarding retirement benefits.
• Provides direction and training to Retirement Technician.
• Conducts counseling sessions for defined contribution plan.
• Calculates pension estimates and explains preretirement figures.
• Prepares annual retirement board budget; manages invoices and cash flow.
• Liaises with investment managers, consultants, actuaries and vendors.
