Job summary

The City of Alexandria’s Finance Department seeks a personable Retirement Manager to join the Pension and Payroll Division. You will supervise a team of four Retirement Specialists and support the employee/employer pension investment board in administering the plans.

Under the Retirement Administrator’s guidance, you will coordinate meetings, ensure compliance with regulations, provide counseling to employees, and help design and refine retirement procedures and communications.

Qualifications

• Minimum four-year college degree and five years of related experience or equivalent.
• Experience with benefit design and plan administration in retirement plans is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Trains, guides, and coaches staff; maintains internal controls for pension transactions.
• Supports all aspects of pension plan administration and investments.
• Prepares exhibits for financial reports and audits; ensures regulatory compliance.
• Counsels employees on retirement options and assists with application processes.
• Acts as Retirement Administrator in their absence.
