Cherry Creek Schools in Denver, CO is seeking tutors to provide individual and/or small-group support in designated content areas for peers. You will clarify concepts, explain processes, and guide students through problem solving to build confidence and understanding.

No formal teaching experience required; prior tutoring helps. Candidates should be comfortable working with students from diverse backgrounds; a background check is required.

Qualifications

  • Completion of 9th and 10th grade high school education.
  • No experience required.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
  • Tutoring experience.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.

SUMMARY

Provide individual and/or group tutoring to peers students for assigned content area(s). Meet with peers to clarify and review concepts taught in class, explain processes, and help students solve specific problems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only.

  • Provide subject-specific content tutoring to help peer students. [Daily, 50%]
  • Help peer students become more confident, more successful, and self-directed learners. [Daily, 25%]
  • Use active listening strategies to allow peer student to determine content and pace of tutoring. [Daily, 15%]
  • Make appropriate referrals to other campus and community resources as needed. [Daily, 5%]
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. [Daily, 5%]
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Completion of 9th and 10th grade high school education.
  • No experience required.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
