Job summary

McLeod Centers for Wellbeing in Charlotte, NC, is seeking a full-time Peer Support Specialist and Front Office Coordinator for our Mobile Opioid Treatment Program. This on-site role supports recovery-oriented care and patient engagement.

You will provide peer support, build patient relationships, assist access to resources, and coordinate front desk operations, including scheduling, intake, and records, while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current credential as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist.
  • Prior office administration experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams).

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer support services to encourage engagement, hope, and recovery.
  • Build supportive relationships with patients and promote recovery-oriented care.
  • Work with clinical staff to identify patient needs and interventions.
  • Orient new patients to McLeod Centers and community resources.
  • Assist patients in accessing recovery supports and services.
  • Assist patients in overcoming barriers to engagement and retention.
  • Front Office: be the main contact for patients and visitors; coordinate scheduling and records.
  • Verify demographics and insurance, support payment processing and confidentiality.

From initial assessment to customized aftercare, McLeod Centers provides compassionate, steadfast support for our patients' journey to recovery. McLeod Centers for Wellbeing is seeking to fill a Full -Time role that is both a Peer Support Specialist and a Front Office Coordinator to join our MobileOpioid Treatment Program (OTP). This unit serves different communities inMecklenburg Countyand is based out ofCharlotte, NC. This is an on-site role.

How will you help us achieve our mission? You will:

  • Provide peer support services using lived recovery experience to encourage engagement, hope, and recovery.
  • Build supportive relationships with patients while promoting recovery-oriented principles.
  • Work collaboratively with licensed and non-licensed clinical staff to identify patient needs and appropriate interventions consistent with the Person-Centered Plan (PCP).
  • Orient new patients to McLeod Centers and available community resources.
  • Assist patients in identifying and accessing recovery supports including:
    • Mutual aid meetings (AA, NA, SMART Recovery, etc.)
    • Recovery support organizations
    • Community resources
    • Social services
    • Vocational and educational resources
  • Assist patients in overcoming barriers to treatment engagement and retention.
  • Identify patients experiencing crisis or increased needs and promptly notify appropriate clinical staff.
  • Promote patient engagement, self-advocacy, and recovery planning.
  • Conduct all interactions in a manner that promotes dignity, hope, trust, and respect.
  • Front Office & Administrative Responsibilities
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, visitors, and community partners while providing excellent customer service.
    • Coordinate front office operations, including patient registration, scheduling, documentation, and communication.
    • Verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information, and assist with patient payment processing.
    • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure required documentation is completed and uploaded into the electronic health record.
    • Support daily administrative and operational functions, including inventory, supplies, and office organization.
    • Support patient flow to ensure efficient medication administration and clinical services.
    • Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and administrative staff to promote efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all organizational policies and applicable regulations.

What are the qualifications needed for this role?

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Current credential as a North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist
  • Prior office administration experience, particularly in a healthcare setting with careful attention to patient confidentiality/HIPAA, is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, etc.).
