Job summary

Riverside Community Care is seeking a Peer Specialist to support Mobile Crisis Intervention Services in Milford, MA. This full-time position emphasizes using lived experience to assist individuals and families in navigating the care system and accessing community resources.

Responsibilities include psychoeducation, arranging follow-up services, and providing crisis support within MCI and Adult CCS as staffing allows.

Qualifications

  • Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or certify within 6–12 months of hire.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle.
  • Basic computer fluency (Microsoft Office).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; higher degree preferred.

Job description

Peer Specialist - Mobile Crisis Intervention

Peer Specialists help to make Mobile Crisis Intervention Services welcoming, comfortable, supportive, and responsive to individuals who utilize them and their families. Using their personal experience and knowledge of navigating the greater system of care, Peer Specialists provide consumers with support, information, and assistance in connecting with and obtaining community-based resources and services.

Responsibilities
  • Convey hope and provide psychoeducation, including information about recovery, rehabilitation, and crisis self-management.
  • Assist in arranging services to which the individual is referred after the MCI intervention, working with the person and family to support transition to those follow-up services.
  • Provide similar services in the MCI service and Adult CCS as staffing and time permit.
  • Assist in interventions with individuals/families presenting in crisis due to substance use disorders; support explanation of the process to access services, availability of self-help resources, and provide follow-up for those who may or may not be ready to accept help at the time of initial contact.
Schedule & Pay

Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours. Monday through Friday, 1st shift.

Pay Rate: $22.27/hour, additional $1 for CPS, additional $2 for CARC.

Requirements
  • Must be a Certified Peer Specialist or obtain certification within 6 months-1 year of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer fluency (including Microsoft Office).
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree in a Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist preferred; must immediately begin and diligently work toward certification process if hired without certification.
  • Experience as a consumer of services or family member of a consumer preferred; one year experience working with target population required.
