Job summary

Volunteers of America-Greater New York is seeking a dedicated Peer Specialist in Bronx, NY to support treatment services by engaging clients and promoting service acceptance. You will follow the service plan and help ensure continuity of care, serving as a positive role model.

In this full-time role you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, assist with gathering client information, schedule appointments, and facilitate groups and workshops while contributing to a comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Life experience with service systems used by the target population.
  • Ability to engage clients and explain program benefits.
  • Schedule appointments and follow-up on attendance.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and workshops.

Responsibilities

  • Engage clients to further acceptance of services.
  • Provide follow-up to assure compliance with the service plan.
  • Serve as a role model for the population served.
  • Assist the team with information about the program and its benefits.
  • Participate in case conferences and schedule appointments.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

The Peer Specialist will assist the program in providing treatment services by engaging clients to further their acceptance of services and aids staff in understanding the clients’ issues. Along with the team as a whole, provides follow-up services to assure compliance with the service plan. Acts as a role model for the population serviced.

Location: Bronx, NY 10459

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Preferred.
  • Life experience with the service systems utilized by the target population.
  • Assist the team in giving clients information about the program and it’s benefits.
  • Assist with obtaining necessary client information to ensure appropriate services.
  • Participate in case conferences, schedule appointments for clients and follow-up on appointment attendance.
  • Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and workshops.
