Job summary

Volunteers of America-Greater New York (VOA-Greater New York) is seeking a part-time Peer Specialist to support our Bronx-based program. The role engages clients to encourage service acceptance and assists staff in understanding client needs within a behavioral health supported housing setting.

The Peer Specialist will co-facilitate groups, help schedule appointments, and ensure follow-up on the service plan, while modeling best practices and connecting clients with our comprehensive benefits

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Life experience with the service systems utilized by the target population.
• Prior peer support experience or related work is appreciated.

Responsibilities

• Assist the team in giving clients information about the program and its benefits.
• Assist with obtaining necessary client information to ensure appropriate services.
• Participate in case conferences, schedule appointments for clients and follow-up on appointment attendance.
• Facilitate or co-facilitate groups and workshops.

Education

High School Diploma or GED Preferred.

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Peer Specialist (Part Time/24hrs Weekly)

The Peer Specialist will assist the program in providing treatment services by engaging clients to further their acceptance of services and aids staff in understanding the clients' issues. Along with the team as a whole, provides follow-up services to assure compliance with the service plan. Acts as a role model for the population serviced.

Minimum Qualifications:
