Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Two years of college-level education is preferred.
• Certification as a certified peer specialist is preferred at time of hire.
• Must be a current or former substance abuse or mental health care recipient with at least two years in recovery.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain WestCare’s vehicle insurance are required.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Conduct skills-building groups and other activities assigned by the supervisor.
• Serve as a role model for consumers and provide coaching and mentoring services.
• Provide peer support and advocacy to individuals in recovery.
• Complete required documentation, group notes, progress notes, and wellness activity reports.
• Coordinate with counselors, case managers, and staff to support continuity of care.
