Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified to support an outpatient clinic in Granite Falls, NC. You will work under clinical supervision to perform rooming, data collection, and patient care tasks, and assist with appointments and registries.

Responsibilities include taking vital signs, collecting medical histories, assisting providers, performing phlebotomy, administering medications, and ensuring rooms are stocked and ready for procedures.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assisting program strongly preferred.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA or NCMA required.
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC required.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and collect vitals and intake data.
• Collect medical and social history from patients and families.
• Review current medications, allergies, and pharmacy preferences.
• Assist providers during treatments, exams, and procedures.
• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection; administer medications as directed.
• Conduct tests (e.g., EKG, eye exams) under supervision.
• Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms with supplies and educational materials.
• Assist with patient registration, check-in/out, scheduling, and referrals.
• Maintain and document information in the EMR system.
• Provide post-visit instructions and educational materials to patients.
