Job summary

UNC Health Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Granite Falls, NC is seeking a Medical Assistant I, Certified for a per diem, onsite role in the Urgent Care Pediatric unit. You will support providers with rooming, vitals, patient intake, and administrative tasks in an outpatient setting.

The ideal candidate holds a certified Medical Assistant credential (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA) and BLS, with prior MA experience preferred. Per diem schedule and competitive hourly pay offered.

Qualifications

• None required if other qualifications met.
• Preferred completion of a CAAHEP/ABHES-accredited Medical Assisting program.
• Requires Medical Assistant certification (AAMA/AMT/CCMA/NRCMA/NCMA).
• Basic Life Support certification from AHA or ARC is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs rooming and intake including vital signs and data.
• Collects patient and family data including medical and social history.
• Reviews medication list, allergies and preferred pharmacy.
• Assists provider during treatments, examinations and procedures.
• Collects specimens and performs phlebotomy.
• Administers medications under provider direction.
• Performs tests such as EKG and eye exams.
• Ensures exam rooms have supplies and are ready.
• Provides after-visit instructions and patient education.
• Schedules tests, treatments, referrals and handles registration.
• Answers clinic phones and supports nurse/provider.
• Assists in emergencies as directed.
