Job summary

UNC Health's Caldwell Memorial Hospital Urgent Care Pediatric in Granite Falls NC is hiring a Medical Assistant I, Certified to provide routine clinical and administrative support. The role works under supervision for patient care and under a manager for non-clinical duties.

The position is full-time, onsite, with a 40-hour work week and a salary range of $17.66-$25.39 per hour. A $5,000 commitment incentive is offered, with strong consideration for MA certification and BLS; prior MA experience

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assisting program is strongly preferred but not required.
• Prior Medical Assistant experience or externship is preferred.
• Requires Medical Assistant certification from AAMA, AMT, CCMA, NRCMA, or NCMA.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform rooming and intake with vital signs and patient data.
• Collect patient social/medical history.
• Review medications and allergies.
• Assist provider during treatments and exams.
• Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy.
• Administer medications as directed.
• Perform tests such as EKG and eye exams.
• Review records to determine health screenings.
• Prepare and maintain exam/treatment rooms.
• Sterilize instruments.
• Assist with patient registration, scheduling and referrals.
• Answer clinic calls and manage in-basket.
• Assist in emergency situations as directed.
• Ensure supplies and educational materials are available.
• Provide after-visit and self-care instructions.
