Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Paramedic to join the interdisciplinary team providing patient-centered care under supervision of a Registered Nurse/Physician.

The role includes taking vitals, assisting with exams, administering medications (oral, IV, SubQ, IM), IV/IO procedures, and pediatric care support. You will collaborate with Sterile Processing, manage supplies, and may float to other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Current Certification of Critical Care Paramedic.
• Current BLS certification as per American Heart Association.
• Iowa Dependent Adult and Iowa Child Abuse mandatory reporter training.
• PALS must be obtained before orientation.

Responsibilities

• Performs designated procedures under supervision of an RN/Physician.
• Measures vitals, height and weight; manages room turnover and patient flow.
• Administers oral, IV, SubQ and IM medications; monitors safety.
• Assists with IV/IO insertion, NG/OG tubes and Foley catheters as trained.
• Participates in pediatric unit and transports patients as needed.
• Floats to other departments and maintains inventory and quality checks.
