Job summary

Mercy Cedar Rapids is seeking an Inpatient Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) for PRN/as-needed shifts in a close-knit pediatric unit. You will provide safe, compassionate family-centered care to diverse pediatric patients and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized plans.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa or compact state required.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within 12 months of hire/transfer.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 12 months of hire/transfer.
• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, family-centered care to pediatric patients and collaborate with providers and families.
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized plans of care, administer meds and treatments.
• Respond to changing patient needs and educate families.
• Demonstrate critical thinking and sound clinical judgment in implementing nursing care.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate information during hand-offs.
• Direct other licensed and non-licensed personnel in the provision of care as assigned.
• Demonstrate age-appropriate communication, addressing fears and language/cultural barriers.
• Respond to emergencies within scope of practice and uphold patient safety practices.
• Collaborate effectively with all members of the healthcare team and provide ongoing patient/family education.
