Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Paramedic (CCP) for the Pediatric Unit. This part-time role offers rotating shifts and 24 scheduled hours per week, with a $4,500 sign-on bonus for external applicants.

Under the supervision of an RN/Physician, you will perform patient assessments, administer medications, support IV/IO access, and assist with procedures. You will help manage room turnover, patient flow, and ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Current certification as Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) is required.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) is required.
• PALS certification must be obtained prior to orientation completion.
• Experience in pediatric critical care is preferred.
• Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs designated patient care under the supervision of an RN/Physician.
• Assesses patients and records vitals, height and weight as directed.
• Administers oral, IV, SubQ and IM medications; manages IV/IO as trained.
• Covers primary RN during breaks and assists with patient flow.
• Prepares patients for physician exams and documents care provided.
• Performs lab draws and point-of-care testing for adults and children.
• Maintains sterile technique and follows safety guidelines.
• Participates in inventory control and equipment readiness.
