Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an entry-level ultrasound technician to perform ultrasound examinations for patients of all ages. You will operate ultrasound equipment, capture high-quality images, and prepare patients for procedures under physician guidance.

Required ARRT(S) or ARDMS certification, along with BLS, and graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. This is a PRN, hourly positon with weekend and shift variability.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • ARRT (S) or ARDMS certification required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • 1 year Ultrasound/Sonography experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce diagnostic images.
  • Performs sonographic examinations to locate and evaluate data.
  • Records test results and inspects/maintains equipment.
  • Reviews physician requisitions and patient prep for ultrasound.

Job Description
  • Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes.
  • Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.
  • Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed.
  • Reviews physician requisition orders and instructions concerning patient preparation for ultrasound procedure.
  • Job requires the ability to perform portable exams in a variety of settings.

Education: Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

Experience: At least 1 year of Ultrasound/Sonography experience preferred.

Required Registration/Certification: Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (S) or Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
