Job summary

Shriners Children’s Hospital is seeking a Dept. Assistant III to schedule surgeries for multiple surgeons in the OR, handle charge capture, and create vendor PO’s as needed. This on-site Portland position works with care coordination and nursing staff to ensure timely, accurate procedures and billing.

The role emphasizes strong computer and communication skills, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach to support the surgical teams and families served by Shriners.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required, with BLS certification preferred.
• Strong typing and data entry skills; accurate, timely scheduling.
• Experience with hospital scheduling systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and enters scheduling information according to guidelines for instruments, equipment, staffing and time.
• Maintains accurate information in required scheduling/information systems.
• Communicates surgery schedule changes/additions to requesting departments using approved methods.
• Demonstrates proficient computer skills with Windows-based software used at Shriners.
• Delivers courteous customer service to health care teams and patients/families.
• Answers phones professionally; serves as first point of contact to department.
