Job summary

Shriners Children's Spokane is recruiting an Operating Room/PACU RN to join the Perioperative team. The RN provides care in OR and PACU Phase I, supporting the Anesthesiologist during intraoperative care and ensuring asepsis and infection control according to AORN guidelines.

The candidate will mentor, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and participate in committees or projects as needed. BSN preferred or in-process, WA RN license, BLS and PALS within 3 months of hire; AORN certification

Qualifications

• BSN preferred, or signed BSN education agreement to actively be in process to receive BSN within five years from the initial date of hire.
• RN in WA
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required with 3 months of hire
• PALS required with 3 months of hire
• AORN certification a plus
• Pediatrics, orthopedic experience (preferred)

This position provides care in both the OR and PACU Phase I of a patients’ surgical experience. The RN will function within the team by providing professional nursing care to patients whose protective reflexes or self-care abilities are potentially compromised during and/or immediately after surgical or other invasive procedures. Provides support to the Anesthesiologist as needed during the intraoperative process. Utilizes clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and the nursing process to provide care to patients in the operating room and/or PACU. Uses the principles and guidelines of the AORN to ensure asepsis and infection control.
