Job summary

Advocate Children's Hospital Oak Lawn is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our outpatient Pediatric Complex Care team on a part-time basis. The role supports 20 hours per week, Mon-Fri, with flexibility in shift patterns (two 10-hour shifts or three 8-hour shifts) and no weekends.

This position focuses on complex pediatric patients, many with tracheostomies requiring ventilator support, in an outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• RCP license (state) required.
• NBRC RRT credential required.
• BLS certification required.
• NPS required.
• Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with an associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients using pulmonary diagnostics, radiographs and labs as part of care.
• Operate ventilators in critical and non-critical care settings; assist physicians.
• Deliver prescribed meds and therapies per orders.
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment and safety.
• Educate patients and families on therapy goals and techniques.
• Collaborate with departments to support patient care.
• Adapt to policies and maintain performance standards.
• Provide clear handoffs; communicate effectively with team.
• Promote safety and report safety events; precept new staff.
• Care for pediatric patients across age ranges.
