Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a part-time Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join the BPD Interdisciplinary Care Program in the Department of Pediatrics. You will provide outpatient evaluation and longitudinal care for infants and children with BPD in collaboration with pediatric pulmonologists.

The role includes inpatient consultations, care coordination from NICU to outpatient, education for families, and participation in program development and quality improvement across North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) in North Carolina.
• Experience in pediatric pulmonology, neonatology/NICU, or care of medically complex infants is preferred but not required.
• Interest in longitudinal care of chronic lung disease in children.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient evaluation and longitudinal management of infants and children with BPD and other respiratory complications of prematurity, in collaboration with pediatric pulmonologists.
• Participate in multidisciplinary BPD clinics, coordinating care with neonatology, cardiology, nutrition, developmental specialists, social work, respiratory therapy, and other disciplines.
• Assist with inpatient pediatric pulmonary consultation and longitudinal care planning for infants and children with BPD, including transition planning from the NICU to outpatient pulmonary care.
• Manage common BPD-related outpatient needs, including supplemental oxygen and respiratory equipment, respiratory medications, symptom management, diagnostic testing, and ongoing assessment of respiratory status.
• Provide education and counseling to patients and families regarding BPD, respiratory therapies, home oxygen and equipment, medications, and anticipatory guidance.
• Participate in multidisciplinary BPD team meetings and contribute to development and implementation of standardized clinical pathways, protocols, and evidence-based care practices.
• Support quality improvement and program evaluation activities, including patient outcome tracking and development of the BPD patient registry.
• Participate in education and outreach activities for healthcare professionals within UNC and at collaborating hospitals and community practices across North Carolina.
