Job summary

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is seeking residents for its physical therapy residency program in Grand Rapids, MI. Residents work with multiple outpatient departments under mentorship from Mary Free Bed clinical staff and per Michigan laws and regulations.

They spend part of the time in programmatic didactics, a scientific inquiry project, and teaching responsibilities at Grand Valley State University, with findings presented in Grand Rounds upon completion.

Qualifications

• Graduate of CAPTE Accredited Physical Therapy Program.
• Licensed in Michigan.
• Possesses and maintains CPR certification to meet department/program protocol.
• Membership in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care within the scope of their license and as required by law.
• Evaluates patient condition and sets interdisciplinary, patient-centered goals.
• Establishes and administers treatment plans, revises goals as needed.
• Documents patient status including evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries.
• Communicates with the treatment team to integrate physical therapy with other care.
• Instructs patients and families in home exercise programs and safety.
• Participates in meetings and continues education as required.
• Upholds confidentiality and Mary Free Bed standards of behavior.
