Job summary

At Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Evening shift Laboratory Support role centers on phlebotomy, specimen collection, and processing to support patient care for infants, children, and adolescents.

You will educate patients and families about tests, perform point-of-care testing, and collaborate with a professional team to ensure accurate results and compassionate service. Ongoing education and compliance with hospital standards are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of Phlebotomy or other relevant Clinical Lab specimen collection experience OR completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Technical/Phlebotomy - Perform approved specimen collection procedures, point-of-care testing services and processing.
• Provide education/information and support to patients and families concerning tests and specimen acquisition.
• Assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research.
• Customer Service - Act as patient advocate and meet patient/family needs.
• Provide information concerning patients admitted to, referred to/from, transferred to/from, or discharged from home unit.
• Provide emotional support to patients/families as needed.
• Utilize a customer focus in completing assignments, communicate in a courteous and conscientious manner.
• Promptly attend to requests and concerns.
• Collaboration - Work cooperatively with others to achieve goals.
• Proactively adjust one's style, efforts to complement those of others.
