Job summary

Workforce Recruiter is seeking a Phlebotomist on a contract basis in Austin, TX. The role requires pediatric venipuncture experience, accurate specimen handling, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Schedule is M-F 8am–5pm with an initial 3-month duration and potential for permanent placement.

Responsibilities include performing blood draws, labeling, centrifuging, and ensuring proper storage of specimens. Eligible candidates will have phlebotomy certification and relevant clerical skills.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity per protocol.
• Attend annual department trainings.
