Job summary

Clear Concepts, Inc. is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Austin, TX. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm, for an initial period of 3 months with potential for permanent placement.

The role requires pediatric phlebotomy experience, hard-stick proficiency, and a working knowledge of specimen handling, labeling, and OSHA/DEP regulations. Benefits are available for this contract opportunity.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physician orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimen samples according to required temperature and transport them per protocol.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
