Job summary

Baystate Mercy Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support Registered Nurses with direct patient care, bedside tasks, hygiene, mobility, and monitoring on the unit. The role includes multi-skilling for phlebotomy and EKGs and requires equipment management and assistance in procedures as directed by the RN and unit policies.

The PCT will perform a variety of technical tasks, coordinate care, and contribute to patient safety while assisting with treatment plans and communicating

Qualifications

• At least one year of patient care experience is required.
• English reading and writing proficiency.
• Ability to maintain composure in medium to high-stress situations.

Responsibilities

• Provides age-appropriate care to patients.
• Monitors vital signs and records measurements.
• Assists with treatments and procedures and dressing changes.
• Assists with elimination needs and specimen collection.
• Performs Point of Care (POC) Testing.
• Assists with delivery of ancillary services and follows treatment plans.
• Communicates effectively with team and patients.
• Initiates emergency procedures as needed.
• Works as a team member and supports non-clinical activities.
• Completes clinical recognition program for career ladder.
• Observation of patients as required.
