Job summary

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in Secretarial Science or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of hospital/clinic routine or previous medical receptionist experience helpful.
• A minimum typing speed of 35 wpm required.
• Ability to manage multi-line phone system and headset needed.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of child development to communicate with children and families and adults.
• Good computer and public relations skills needed.

Responsibilities

• Pre-registration and full registration.
• Obtaining consent paperwork and informing patients of rights and privacy notices.
• Collection of identification, guarantor information and insurance coverages.
• Insurance verification.
• Obtaining co-payments for services rendered.
• Patient intake and referral processing and scheduling for some patients.
• Scheduling follow-up appointments and coordinating with clinical team.
• Handling incoming calls, messages, transfers and scheduling.
• Obtaining and managing referrals.
• Managing departmental faxes.
• Scanning clinical records to EPIC medical record and updating systems.
• Collaborate with Patient Access Lead on issues or complaints.
