Job summary

Scottish Rite for Children is seeking a Patient Access Representative I for our Frisco Ambulatory Surgical Center. You will greet patients and families, perform scheduling and registration, check-in/out, and collect demographics and insurance information.

You will also guide patients to enroll in MyChart and explain the financial screening process. This role emphasizes HIPAA/privacy compliance, accurate data handling in Epic, and teamwork to support our mission to return children to their

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Preferred 2 years working in a medical office setting.
  • Preferred experience in insurance procedures.
  • Preferred experience in medical appointment scheduling.

Job Posting Title: Patient Access Representative I

Location: Frisco - Ambulatory Surgical Center

Additional Posting Details: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 5:00 pm, 40 hours per week

Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities
  • Greets patients/families in a professional and welcoming manner
  • Functions as a liaison between patients, families, and staff
  • Performs scheduling and registration process for appointments within the ambulatory setting
  • Performs check-in and check-out for patient visits
  • Obtains accurate collection of patient demographics, identification, insurance coverage, and other relevant information
  • Promotes and assists patients/families in signing up for MyChart
  • Provides guidance to patient/families about the financial screening process
  • Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality, and patient rights
  • Ensures patient receives necessary disclosure and privacy information, as well as obtains necessary legal and financial signatures
  • Maintains patient information and documentation in electronic medical record
  • Supports quality care through compliance with departmental and organizational policies and guidelines, and external agency guidelines, standards, or regulations
  • Performs patient intake/referral process; appropriately scheduling patient appointments according to scheduling algorithm/protocols
  • Maintains and distributes incoming departmental faxes
  • Screens and routes inbound/outbound calls in a timely manner (messages, transfers, scheduling, questions, and other needs)
  • Scans clinical record information and correspondence into patient's electronic record
  • Maintains scheduling, registration, and referral work queues in Epic
  • Performs scheduling of new and/or follow-up patient visits, including but not limited to diagnostic and ancillary appointments (as needed); may require coordination with clinical team
  • Maintains registration-related key performance indicators as determined by supervisor or manager
  • Supports hospital and departmental performance improvement goals
  • Supports departmental initiatives and change efforts
  • Practices financial and resource stewardship
  • Engages in strong communication, acts as team player in supporting mission and vision of organization, and abides by organization's core values
  • Additional duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
  • High School education or equivalent
