Job summary

Banner Desert Medical Center/Banner Children's at Desert in Mesa, AZ, is seeking an experienced surgical technologist to join the perioperative team. This role selects and places instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgery, scrubs with proficiency in at least two specialties, and participates in training staff and students.

The position is full-time with a 40-hour week, 6:40 AM start, on-site work, and on-call rotations including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and BLS certification.
• Certified as a surgical technologist OR 2–3 years of experience in a surgical technologist role.
• Must scrub proficiently in at least two surgical specialties.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and safety in sterile techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepares for procedures by pulling instruments and ensuring instrument readiness.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments during surgery.
• Maintains aseptic technique and disposes of sharps and waste properly.
• Ensures accurate surgeon preference cards and pick lists.
• Assists with turnover, stocking, and cleaning of operating rooms.
• Participates in training and orientation of staff and students.
