Job summary

Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, MI, is seeking a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under direct supervision and established policies. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or completion of DMC surgical technician training program or equivalent training/experience.
• Certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists is highly desirable.
• One to two years of experience as a surgical technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs on all types of operating procedures; handles instruments, sutures and sponges; assists the surgeon.
• Prepares for scheduled operative procedures; ensures equipment, instruments and supplies are available.
• Maintains a clean and safe OR environment; sterilizes equipment and restocks supplies.
• Assists in transporting patients to and from the OR; verifies identity; assists with positioning.
• May assist as second circulator under RN direction; contribute to dept in-services and policy development.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
