Job summary

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit is seeking a Surgical Technician for ambulatory OR support. Under supervision, you will scrub on procedures, handle instruments, sutures, and sponges, and assist the surgical team to maintain aseptic technique and patient safety.

Responsibilities include preparing for cases, ensuring equipment and supplies are ready, and supporting the circulating nurse. Eligible candidates typically have a surgical technician program and a nursing or allied health background.

Qualifications

• Scrub on all types of operating procedures and assist as needed.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and support the surgeon and circulating nurse.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs on all types of operating procedures; handles surgical instruments, sutures & sponges; anticipates the surgeon's needs.
• Prepares for scheduled operative procedures and ensures equipment, instruments and supplies are ready.
• Maintains a clean and safe OR environment and restocks supplies.
• Assists in transporting patients to/from the OR and positioning them for procedures.
• May assist as second circulator and participate in in-service education.
