Job summary

DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit seeks a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under direct supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures. You will scrub on all procedures, handle instruments, maintain aseptic technique, and assist with patient transport and positioning as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a surgical technician program, and 1–2 years of experience; AST certification is desirable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Equivalent DMC surgical technician training program or equivalent combination of training/experience.
• Successful completion of an accredited surgical technician program.

Responsibilities

• Scrubs on all types of operating procedures; handles surgical instruments, sutures & sponges; assists the surgeon and circulator with aseptic technique.
• Prepares for scheduled operative procedures; ensures necessary equipment, instruments and supplies are ready.
• Maintains clean and safe OR environment; restocks OR with standard supplies; assists in updating instrument sets.
• Assists in transporting patients to/from the OR; verifies patient identity and assists with positioning.
• May assist as second circulator under R.N. direction; supports dept in-services and trial/evaluation of new products.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
