Responsibilities

• Coordinates daily clinical operations of the unit and organization, ensuring quality family-centered care in an efficient environment.
• Manages patient throughput: admissions, discharges, transfers, and daily patient/family rounds.
• Oversees staffing processes: assign tasks to match patient needs with staff competencies.
• Monitors unit environment: ensures supplies, equipment, information, and resources for safe care.
• Documents scheduling, occurrence reports, patient/family concerns, and quality indicators in real time.
• Provides a report to the oncoming supervisor with throughput, staffing, environment, schedules, concerns, and quality indicators.
• Collaborates with manager to lead an environment that supports staff engagement and career development.
• Demonstrates clinical leadership with nursing and interdisciplinary teams for age-specific plans of care and continuous learning.
• Identifies and leads performance improvement projects to improve care delivery, safety, and satisfaction.
• Ensures timely completion and investigation of occurrence reports; addresses patient safety risks and quality initiatives.
• Manages department/organization policies, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction strategies; mentors staff in ethical practice.
• Develops leadership skills among staff and participates in hiring and performance management, using just culture concepts.
• Maintains effective communication across departments to coordinate services and outcomes.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as requested.
