Job summary

Connecticut Children’s is seeking a skilled pediatric nurse to provide direct professional nursing care across the patient episode. The role requires RN licensure in Connecticut, BLS/CPR, and commitment to CCMC standards and patient education.

Responsibilities include triage duties, trauma response, and mentoring peers, with ongoing focus on family-centered care and compliance with unit policies.

Qualifications

• ASN required upon hire; BSN preferred and required within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in pediatrics and/or emergency setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Practice - provide safe, appropriate patient care using nursing process.
• Population Specific care for neonate through adolescence with cultural sensitivity.
• Unit Leadership - contribute to leadership and preceptor/mentor activities.
• Documentation/Communication - complete documentation per policies and communicate with health care team.
• Patient/Family Partnership & Education - educate patients and families about care per policies.
• Demonstrates support for CCMC mission and standards.
• Triage nurse when assigned to prioritize patient care.
• Trauma nurse responder when assigned.
• Engage in patient/family prevention education and follow-up.
• Develops understanding of legal implications regarding evidence gathering.
• Delegation of tasks to unlicensed staff as appropriate.
