Job summary

The Medical Assistant II works with providers and staff to improve operations, coordinate tests, and educate patients on referrals and follow-up care.

Qualifications

• Experience with vital signs collection and patient interviewas part of initial patient care.
• Proficient in documenting patient information and procedures in CIS/Centricity.
• Ability to assist with examinations, procedures, and routine testing.

Responsibilities

• Patient and Room Preparation - prepare exam rooms, gather equipment, educate patients, and coordinate schedules for smooth access.
• Patient Intake and History - collect and verify patient data, document health information, and use CIS to enter data.
• Clinical Orders - implement provider orders, manage prescriptions and prior authorizations per protocol.
• Assisting Provider - chaperone and assist with procedures, set up/clean rooms, anticipate provider needs.
• Procedures - perform procedures per protocol including EKG and screening tests; administer immunizations per policy.
• Documentation - complete all documentation accurately and timely for patient records.
• Patient Discharge - schedule follow-ups, provide education, and prepare rooms for next patient.
• Communication/Leadership - ensure smooth hand-offs and raise concerns as needed.
• Completes referrals and prior authorizations; schedule surgeries and procedures.
• May float to other practices/departments as needed.
